2024 Topps Chrome Baseball: One of the biggest sets of the year. This box can contain the most valuable rookie cards any player can have. It also can have nothing valuable in it at all. So, is this year’s Topps Chrome worth it? First, a breakdown of the product. In previous years, Jumbo and Hobby boxes had more autos, with 5 and 2 respectively, to these past two years where Jumbos and Hobbies have 3 and 1.
Also, whether a good thing or a bad thing, Topps has also increased the number of parallels in the box. These new parallels, such as negative refractors which are numbered -5/0 to -1/0, although having the same exclusivity, will not be worth the same amount as regular parallels, such as reds /5.
You can see the inserts, veterans, rookies, stars, parallels, odds, and more at the set checklist here.
Without further ado, let’s get into the review of Topps Chrome 2024, including all types of boxes. (Blaster, Hobby, Jumbo)
Set Rating: 4/10
When it comes to set checklists, this set is in the bottom half. With hundreds of base cards, and the worst players being ones who will never touch an mlb field again, most cards are not good. The best cards, however, are incredible. This is because Topps Chrome has 300 players, which includes many stars and duds.
Card Quantity: 6.5/10
You get a decent amount of cards in these boxes, especially in hobby and jumbo boxes. They are a bit pricey per auto, but considering you get plenty of parallels and how valuable the autos can be, they aren’t that bad.
Card Quality: 7.5/10
These are very premium chrome cards with nice finishes and cool designs. Often, autos are on card. The parallels feel very nice, and the inserts are clean.
Card Resell: 10/10
These cards are one of the most recognizable and iconic sets from Topps every year, making them very wanted in the second hand market. Nice cards from this set will sell incredibly fast, making them resell for high prices.
Overall Rating: 5/10
I probably will not open another jumbo box of this product this year. I will open some blasters. This is because they are some of the most exciting cards to open, because the ceiling for your hits is so big. For any avid card collector, I recommend opening at least one hobby of these per year. For any collector starting out, definitely try a blaster. On the other hand, you will almost never get your money’s worth, and the boxes are very expensive. You can buy jumbos and hobbies on ebay, and blaster boxes or monster boxes at fanatics.
