2024 Topps Update: The final paper flagship product of the year.
First of all, the checklist, odds, and best players are here.
Next, a basic explanation of the boxes. Each blaster box has seven packs, with 12 cards per pack. Hobby boxes have one hit, with 20 packs and 12 cards per pack. Jumbos have three hits, with one guaranteed auto, ten packs per box, and 40 cards per pack.
Important!!: DO NOT buy this set for autographs. The only guaranteed (and likely) autograph is in the Jumbo box. Instead, buy this to collect sets, players, or for bulk cards.
Silver packs: These are 4 card packs, with a mojo pattern. Autos and numbered cards are not too uncommon to find in these. You get one per hobby box, and two per jumbo box.
So, without further ado, here is the box review.
Set Rating: 5/10
There are many players in this set (300-card set), however lots of rookies to balance it out. Cool inserts and many case hits to find are also in the set. The rookie class is strong this year.
Hit Quantity/Quality: 2/10
Hits are not common in these boxes. Furthermore, hits are not very high quality. Occasionally, you get a nice autograph, but those are few and far between.
Card Quantity: 9.5/10
These boxes have some of the most cards, with hobbies having 240 cards and Jumbos having a whopping 400 cards.
Card Quality: 1.5/10
These are super low-quality paper cards, combined with some rookies being “rookie debuts”, lowering the price and quality of those.
Card Resell: 4/10
In the second-hand market, these cards are on the low side for a flagship product, especially the rookie debuts. The base cards are mass-produced and incredibly cheap, but the numbered cards and autos can be nice.
Price: 5/10
These boxes have been priced up recently. They are a mediocre price, with hobbies costing around $130 and jumbos around $300.
Overall Rating: 5/10
The 2024 Topps Pro Debut gets a five. Its large checklist, lower-quality cards, lower resell price, and incredible price value make it a middle-of-the-road product.
Should I Buy 2024 Topps Update?
These boxes are relatively niche. If you are looking for lots of cards, buy one of these boxes. Also, I heavily recommend just buying a jumbo if you are going to open more than 1 hobby box. Blaster boxes could also be a cheaper buy, with good cards and holding a flagship product.
In conclusion, these are relatively expensive boxes for collectors looking for flagship products and mass cards. The blasters are a must-open every year, being the flagship.
